Chamber Ambassadors
The Ambassadors’ mission is to instill the positive aspects of our diverse business community to help promote member retention and continuous growth in our Chamber Membership and community as a whole.
WHO ARE THE AMBASSADORS?
Ambassadors are enthusiastic, outgoing professionals with diverse backgrounds that act as liaisons between the Chamber and its members. They possess leadership qualities and skills to promote Chamber programs and initiatives. Every Ambassador makes a commitment of 12 months to the program.
WHAT THE AMBASSADORS DO:
· They support and actively participate in the goals and action plan set forth by the Chamber Board of Directors
· They welcome and involve new members by encouraging participation in Chamber sponsor events
· They attend ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, relocations and grand openings
· They volunteer for Chamber sponsor events such as Ole Time Fiddlers Convention, Home and Garden Show and other opportunities that arise during the year
· They serve as mentors to new Chamber members by visiting and/or calling members quarterly
· They mentor the existing membership by visiting and/or calling members quarterly.
· They recruit new members
AMBASSADORS’ BENEFITS
· Opportunity to make presentations to the Ambassadors as the Ambassador Spotlight at the regular monthly meetings
· Unlimited opportunities to gain new business contacts and develop relationships with fellow members and prospective Chamber members
· Gain recognition in the community as being one of the most valuable assets of the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce
· The opportunity to earn “Ambassador of the Quarter”. The “AOQ” will receive additional recognition in the Athens News Courier and as well as the Chamber Outlook Newsletter. The “AOQ” will be recognized on the Chamber’s website with their photo, business name and outstanding contribution to the Ambassador program.

Shannon Elliott was named Ambassador of the Quarter

Each quarter, a dedicated member of the “Chamber Ambassadors” who served above and beyond our expectations is presented with the “Ambassador of the Quarter” award. This quarter’s recipient is Shannon Elliott of The News Courier.
Shannon has lived in Athens for forty four years. She is married to Joe Elliott and has two sons and two step children.
Shannon works at The News Courier as Director of Advertising. She was the Past Chapter President and Past State President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees). Over the years Shannon has served the community through Hospice, The American Heart Association, Boys and Girls Club, Athens Middle and High School Booster clubs, CASA, Council on Aging, Dixie Youth Board and numerous other associations. In addition to the Chamber Ambassadors, Shannon is currently serving on the Boys and Girls Clubhouse Café’s Board of Directors and as a Pi Beta Sigma Sorority Sponsor.
