Razzy Bailey’s Barn Dance & Variety Show

February 6 at 7:00 PM

Red Hot for Heart Luncheon

February 10 at 11:30 AM

Athens-Limestone Hospital will host the 2nd annual luncheon at the Lindsey Lane Baptist Church Family Life Center.  Linda Mobley, of Williams-Sonoma, will be giving a special “Heart Healthy” cooking demonstration.  Tammy Burlingame Brand will share her personal experiences with a heart condition and how it touches all the lives in her young family.  Tickets are $30.00 and guests will receive a catered “Heart Healthy” lunch and ALH Red Hot for Heart t-shirt.  Proceeds will benefit the ALH Cardiology Clinic.  Space is limited.  To register, call Felicia or Lory at 256-233-9122.

 

Valentine Dinner Fundraiser

February 12 at 7:00 PM

The Athens-Limestone Public Library Foundation will host a Valentine Dinner Fundraiser, featuring award winning author Bill Hunt. The Library Foundation will host the catered dinner in the First United Methodist Church Beasley Center, Athens, AL. The cost for the dinner is $35 per person, and tickets may be purchased at the Athens-Limestone Public Library. Contact 256-232-1233. 

 

Yesterdays Valentines Dinner Show

February 13 at 7:00 PM – dinner begins at 6:00 PM

Boys and Girls Club Benefit Dinner

February 18 at 6:30 PM

The Annual Athens Limestone Boys and Girls Club Benefit Dinner will be held in the First United Methodist Church Beasley Center.  Tickets are $20.00 each and are available at the Club House Cafe on the square or the Boys and Girls Club on Washington Street.   Funds raised at the dinner provide services for children.  If you would like to make a contribution to the “Campaign for Kids” program that provides services, as well as after school scholarships,  for these children contact Tonya Williams at 256-232-4298. $100 sponsors a child for a month - $250 for three month – $500 for 6 months and $1,000 for a year.  Contact:  256-233-4045.

 

City of Athens Relay for Life Lock Up

February 19 at 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Pay only $5.00 to have someone locked up.  They must earn $20.00 to get out of jail or they can pay $20.00 to post bail.  If you have someone you want locked up, please notify any City of Athens Relay for Life team member or Police Department at 256-233-8707 and pay $5.00.  They will not tell who had them locked up.  This is a fundraiser for the City of Athens Relay for Life Team and lots of fun.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

Hospice Chili Challenge,

The annual Chili Challenge will be at Athens High School. Get your team organized and entered soon.  Spaces go fast.   Live entertainment, silent auction and some of the best chili in the south.  Contact 256-232-5017 to enter or purchase your tickets. 

 

Flashbacks in Concert

February 27 at 7:00 PM – dinner at 6:00 PM

Band of Brothers of Friendship Pancake Breakfast

March 6 at 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Athens Home and Garden Show

The Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Home and Garden Show will be at the Athens Armory just off Hwy 31 on Armory Drive.  This year vendors displaying all types of lawn and garden products will be available for purchase.  Contact 256-232-2600 to reserve a booth or for more information.

5th Annual Best Buckin’ BBQ Cookoff

April 23-25

Think your barbecue is the best?  Then you should enter this Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned cook-off which is held at the Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo Arena at 17836 AL Hwy 99.  Some $12,000 will be awarded in prize money and proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Limestone County.  The event is free to the public, but amateur teams will be charged a $125 entry fee and professional teams will be charged $250.  To sign up visit www.bestbuckinbbq.org.  For more information call Jonathan 256-497-4887 or send an email to jhinton@limestonesheriff.com.

Dog Gone Festival

June 5 at 8 AM – 4 PM

Ardmore AL/TN Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first “Dog Gone Festival” at the Ardmore, AL town park.  The new festival welcomes everyone and their dogs to this fun event.  Some activates of the day include live entertainment, arts and craft vendors, delicious festival food and games for adults, children and your dog.  Dog events include a dog parade with awards for best dressed dog, best dog trick, dog and master that favor the most, training demonstrations.  Human events include hot dog eating contest, women’s dog gone skillet throw, men’s dog gone wrench throw, and more.  Kid’s events include dog collar throw, moon bounce, face painting, dog art and more.  Dress up your dog and bring the entire family to the park.  Contact 256-423-7588.
